Fireworks Laws Web

In Pennsylvania, adults 18 years of age or older may purchase and use consumer-grade fireworks. However, fireworks cannot be discharged:

  • On public or private property without the owner's permission.
  • From or into a motor vehicle or building.
  • Toward another person.
  • While under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
  • Within 150 feet of an occupied structure, whether or not a person is present.

Residents should also be mindful of their neighbors, pets, and veterans who may be sensitive to loud noises. Before lighting fireworks, make sure the area is clear of people, vehicles, dry grass, and other combustible materials. Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby, never allow young children to handle fireworks, and dispose of used fireworks only after they have completely cooled.

Please remember that sparklers, while often considered harmless, can reach temperatures of more than 1,000 degrees and should always be used with caution and close adult supervision.

From all of us at Lower Salford Township, have a safe and happy Fourth of July!
